*Runshaw Hedeg Pedigree Research
TextureLine

Following is a very interesting pedigree research done about *Runshaw Hedeg,
by Brandye Middelton-Smith:

*Runshaw Hedeg

2012 Section A Welsh Mountain pony stallion
WPCSA # A-50102 (94549)
Breeder: Runshaw Stud
Owners: Jane Fischer deThouars of Tri-Ef Welsh Ponies.

*Runshaw Hedeg is bred to be a great show pony and herd sire. Bred by the Runshaw Stud in the UK who have primarily focused on Coed Coch breeding, he is now owned by Jane Fischer deThouars of Tri-Ef Ranch in the USA. Hedeg at his first show, the 2013 American National Show in Tulsa ended up being the Tulsa American National Reserve Junior Champion Section A Colt under judge Wyn Jones. He was also OK-KS Grand Champion Junior Section A colt under judge Karen Iverson, and he earned two first places in a class of 5 Section A yearling colts. *Runshaw Hedeg was also pinned Grand Champion Section A at the OKWPS show where a total of 46 Section A Welsh ponies were competing, a big defeat and he accomplished this as a yearling.

*Runshaw Hedeg's sire is Churtoncroft Aries, known for his extravagant movement and owned by Runshaw Stud in the UK, is no stranger to the showring. A winner at the prestigious Royal Welsh, Glanusk, Lampeter, The Welsh International, and winner of four WPCS Medals and he has sired winners such as Runshaw Heulwen (Bronze & silver WPCS Medal winner), and Churtoncroft Rhodri (Top 10 at Royal Welsh) who are now producing foals of their own. Churtoncroft Aries is sired by Galchog Amlyn, a son of the many time champion *Coed Coch Bari who was a Royal Welsh show champion, first place winner at West Midland stallion show, and won a total of 17 championships between 1975-1977 and sold at auction for 21,000 pounds ($33,579 US dollars). Coed Coch Bari was also the sire of *Coed Coch Pernod, who in turn sired the foundation Welsh pony stallion for Tri-Ef Ranch, Tri-Ef Cognac LOM. Tri-Ef Cognac LOM is a many times champion winning Western National Grand Champion Section A, Western National Champion Section A stallion, pleasure driving champion, and multiple supreme champion. He sired Tri-Ef Hannelore (supreme champion mare), Gaslight Siwgr Baby (Dam Legion Of Merit winner, many times national high point champion) with both of them being successful dams along with others who helped earn his Sire Legion Of Merit award. Coed Coch Bari (*Runshaw Hedeg's paternal great grandsire) was sired by Coed Coch Salsbri, a winner of 42 first prizes and 12 championships. Coed Coch Salsbri sired the mare Sunwillow Quest who is the dam of Heniarth Quip; a many times champion himself and the sire of many, many champions. Salsbri was out of the mare, Coed Coch Siardus, a five time Royal Welsh show champion mare who the Heniarth Stud has concentrated their female line on. Churtoncroft Aries' dam is Coed Coch Ann, a daughter of Coed Coch Pryd who was male champion at the Royal Welsh show. Pryd was a son of the immortal, Coed Coch Madog who was a winner of 139 first prizes, 63 championships, and 53 other medals. He was the sire of many Royal Welsh champions including Coed Coch Planed, Coed Coch Pelydrog, Coed Coch Norman, Gredington Simwnt, and many of his grand get are also Royal Welsh champions. Further into Coed Coch Ann's pedigree, her maternal grand sire, Coed Coch Neredd was a gold medal winner from various shows.

*Runshaw Hedeg's dam is the beautiful buckskin mare, Runshaw Hyfryd, a daughter of Coed Coch Atebaid. Atebaid was sired by Coed Coch Salsbri, who is the maternal grandsire of many times champion and sire of champions, Heniarth Quip. Coed Coch Atebaid's maternal grandsire is Coed Coch Marli, the sire of Bengad Welsh Poppy who is the maternal grand dam of Randan Walter, a multi champion himself but also the sire and grandsire of champions including Randan Absolutely Fabulous (sired by Randan Walter) who is a multi-champion mare (and dam of champions) in the USA. Randan Walter is also the maternal grandsire of Sunwillow Jubilee, a WPCS Medal winner in hand and under saddle, Dressage Champion, and Welsh International Junior Champion. Hyfryd's dam is Standwell Heidie, who was 10th at the Royal Welsh, Reserve Champion Section A at Derbyshire and has a third and fourth at the Royal Lancashire Agriculture Society Show. Runshaw Hyfryd is a full sister to Runshaw Hafog who has a Top Ten at the Royal Welsh, and she is a maternal half-sister to Runshaw Heulwen, a WPCS medal winner (sired by Churtoncroft Aries) . Standwell Heidie is sired by Coed Coch Superstar, who is a full brother to *Coed Coch Pernod (sire of Tri-Ef Cognac LOM, previously mentioned) Superstar was the sire of Fosterhouses Super Sam, and Standwell Selina who both reside at Runshaw Stud. Sunwillow Heiden (dam of Standwell Heidie) is a paternal half-sister to Bryndansi Melog as they are both sired by the stallion Rookery Ebony. Bryndansi Melog is a champion in her own right, and the dam and grand dam of many champions (in hand and ridden) and is in the dam line of many mares at the Islyn Stud.

*Runshaw Hedeg traces in tail female to the mare Pwllgwyn Empress. One of Pwllgwyn Empress's grand daughters, Droveside Little Queen, went on to produce Fuchsia Quince who was Top of sire ratings in 1991, is the maternal great-grandsire of Briardene Newsflash, a prolific winner of silver and bronze medals, Championships and Supremes.
